Sometimes dramatic news take the floor and suddenly become the centre of attention even in project like LeTSGEPs, focused on GEPs and Gender Budgeting at RPOs.

This is the case of the dangerous situation of women and girls in the Afghanistan crisis.

Most of LeTSGEPs’ partners are engaged in following the situation and in offering any kind of help their Istitutions allow to refugees involved in the academic field.

This is the case, for example, of LeTSGEPs Leading Partner, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE), that will participate in the project promoted by the Emillia-Romagna Region with all the local universities of the territory and aimed at taking in Afghan Refugees, girls and boys, among students and researchers.

The multiannual memorandum of understanding between the Region and the local universities has already been finalized and will be signed in the coming weeks. To sign it, besides Unimore: Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, the University of Parma, the University of Ferrara and the campuses in Piacenza of the Catholic University and the Milan Polytechnic.

Almost forty students and researchers, girls and boys, will be guests of these universities for their academic career and will be enabled to successfully complete an academic path in Emilia-Romagna, thanks to the services offered like: the total exemption from university fees, scholarships, room and board, reception, career guidance, and integration in the universities’ social context, administrative facilities, health care, Italian courses, intercultural mediation, psychological support, mentoring services and a “welcome kit” including for example a personal computer and a bicycle.
