A great success for the Unimore “Equality Week”, a 4 days event that took place in Modena, Italy, from the 20th to the 24th of September.
The “Equality week” is meant to support and promote diversity in its wider meaning with the double purpose of spreading the culture of diversity at Unimore and of taking a public position in favour of it.
The event is connected to the Unimore participation to the European University Network AGR-EU, within the specific focus group “Diversity, Inclusiveness and Multiculturalism”.
Unimore, together with the cities of Modena and Reggio Emilia hosted events organized by local institutions and NGOs mainly centred on diversity issues like disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation.
Among the more interesting appointments, a webinar on diversity in the workplace, meetings on Gender inequality in the STEM studies, on bisexuality and youth activism, presentation of books, sport events for the disabled like basketball and football matches, intercultural walks, always with the enthusiastic participation of the local NGOs committed to education, social innovation, culture and international relationships.
During the week, to sensitize students and researchers at Unimore, specific tasks on diversity were also assigned: the results were presented during the European Researchers’ Night on September, 24th.
A final Conference in Modena presented then the initiatives of Unimore to support diversity.
The Equality week was the result of a very committed team that included all the professors mainly engaged in the diversity culture in terms of Gender Equality, Disability and Psicolgy. It was coordinated by Professor Tindara Addabbo, the Unimore Rector’s delegate on Gender Equality, but also the Project and Scientific coordinator of LeTSGEPs.
